My Top 5 Thai Singers: Number One Is Palmy

Indeed, this year there has been a lot of music on Sirinya’s Thailand blog. Thus, I feel inspired to do a Top 5 of my favourite Thai singers Actually, this proved to be a hard tasks because there are so many Thai musicians and singers that I like. However, I’ve tried to narrow them down to my Top 5 at the moment.
My Top 5 Thai Singers

My number one is defintely Thai-Belgian singer Palmy. I really love her style and her way of performing. In most concerts she performes barefoot and this is also her signature feature.

What is more, Palmy, Eve Pancharoen, is so unique because on the one side her style has a 1960s touch but on the other side she is very modern, rocking but also melancholic sometimes. In a nutshell, Palmy is charming, amiable and true to herself.
For number two I chose Singto Numchok who is known as Buriram’s Ukulele Lion I truly enjoy his feel-good music and the way he combines cool jazz rhythms with surf-rock and pop.

In addition Thai singer Singto Numchok is also an example of how to escape poverty by becoming a famous and successful musician. His trademark is the ukulele but he also plays the guitar. Indeed, his relaxed sounds may also be called chill-out music.

Well, my number three is a band. Can you guess which one? Yeah, it’s Thai Hip Hop band Buddha Bless. I think they really make great songs and music with a message.

Buddha Bless members Gaotong, Gui Oui and Goh-M might appear a bit crazy sometimes but their music is special and thus their lyrics were even awarded by Thailand’s Buddhist Council. Sometimes Buddha Bless seems over the edge and ‘out of control’ (like their latest song) but they like to create songs with messages in accordance with Buddhist thought.

For number four I chose Lula (Kanyarat Tiyapornchai). She is known as a bossa nova queen and her songs range from ballads to pop songs and also electro pop music. Lula has perfomed duets with many other popular Thai singers and what is more, she has also worked on soundtracks and theme songs for Thai TV series and films.

A very beautiful example is her duet ‘Cross Love’ with Klui for the TV drama The Rising Sun starring well-known half-Thai actors Mario Maurer, Urassaya Sperbund and Nadech Kugimiya.

It’s Bell Supol and I chose him because he sung a wonderful jazzy song that I’ve loved for years. I’ve certainly watched the video to the song a 100 times or more 😉 Let’s enjoy this song!

Finally, I may say that my number one among the Top 5 Thai Singers will ‘always’ remain Palmy! What are your favourite Thai artists?

Silamanee

Silamanee (Thai: ศิลามณี; rtgs: Sila Mani; "Quartz") is a Thai costume soap drama (known in Thai as a lakhon thorathat, lakhon or lakorn) with the byline: "The love test of a royal princess and a proud man".[1] The show is a remake of a 1994 drama of the same name[1][2] that was originally based on a novel.[3] Silamanee features Suvanant Kongying and Paul Pattarapon in the main roles.

Plot outline

In the Republic of Chaingrath, located in northern Thailand, a little princess named "Seangfarng" is abandoned by her mother amid an argument over the princess' nationality. Seangfarng is then placed in the care of her father The King of Chaingrath and she later leaves Chaingrath for Bangkok to study, as well as to reunite with her mother, who now has a new family—the princess plans to reunite with her mother, even though she had made a commitment to her mother that they would not meet again.

Ten years later, Seangfarng, the beauty of Chaingrath, transforms herself into beautiful high school girl Ngam Sanluang to hide her real identity from her mother, who is now searching for her. Also, the death of the princess' father provided her with an insight into the "Silamanee", Chaingrath's most precious object (a "Silamanee" is a sacred thing that is traditionally passed down as a marriage gift by the ruler of Chaingrath). The Silamanee has gone missing in Chaingrath due to an arrangement between the king and his closest friend Khun Ruj; however, the Silamanee can be returned to Chaingrath if problems arise in regard to the arrangement—the return of the Silamanee is of the utmost importance to Seangfarng/Ngam and she is provided with the address of the object's location.

The princess then plans to take back the Silamanee, an object that she believes rightfully belongs to her country. With the help of her friend Chalee (the youngest son of Rachasena), who also has a crush on her, Seangfarng/Ngam visits the address where the Silamanee is located. The princess meets a character named "Parote" at the address and she subsequently realizes that Parote is a member of her own family. "Parote" is working in Thai politics, but is also studying, and is the first son of the family. He knows nothing about the princess’ true identity, but he directly shows his dislike of the princess towards Seangfarng/Ngam.

Seangfarng/Ngam then disguises herself as a beautiful shopkeeper named Mae Liang and charms Parote when he arrives in her shop for silk that has been sourced from Chiang Rai. The new disguise is part of the princess' second plan to assume three identities to successfully deceive Parote. However, Seangfarng/Ngam's plan to deceive Parote flounders and it not only becomes apparent that he is actually in love with the princess, but that he also knows the true location of the Silamanee. It also becomes clear that Parote already knew the princess' real identity and that he previously wished to marry Seangfarng/Ngam; however, both characters are already engaged to other people.

With the help of friends and family, Parote and Seangfarng/Ngam eventually marry in Chaingrath; however, the new couple relocate to Bangkok due to problems in the princess' home republic. The soap opera then concludes with the return of the Silamanee to Chaingrath, where Seangfarng/Ngam and Parote have returned to assume the roles of King and Queen of Chaingrath.

Pachrapa Chaichua - a Celebrity - born on Tuesday December 5th 1978, in Unknown.

Katoey Amy claims Pat Napapa had plastic surgery

Katoey Amy causing trouble there. Remember Amy, the transgender who had an incident with  ‘Aum’ Patcharapa Chaichuea’s over Aum’s then boyfriend Note. She claimed she went up to his condo. She is back in the news for claiming Ch3 actress Pat Napapa went under the knife at the same clinic she goes to. Oh no she didn’t. Pat Napapa is livid and claims she doesn’t know who this person is,  they don’t go to the same clinic, and she has never gotten any plastic surgery. Pat doesn’t understand what this person wants from saying all of this. I don’t know, publicity and fame.

This is what Amy said:

‘Someone said we look alike, maybe we got it done at the same place (laughs, before she covers her mouth in revelation on what she said). My friends and various people around me say I resemble Pat Napapa. Many people ka (laughs).’

Oh hell no. Nowadays Pat does look better, this is the most recent picture of her.

What does Mint Chalida thinks? Yaya-Margie insinuate the breakup with Kim

Even though this has been long gone, recently there is gossip that “Margie Rasri” team up with “Yaya Urassaya”, who is secretly the culprit instigating the war between “Mint Chalida” and “Kim Kimberley”.

Upon seeing Mint, we inquire the truth in which she hurriedly accept that none of this is true.  Everything is just rumor.  She also opens about going to “Mai Davika’s” birthday as she knows Mai for a long time now just don’t take pictures together.

You just recently went to Mai Davika’s birthday?

Yes.  It was fun.  It was a goddess theme.  It was kind of stressful since everyone’s outfit was extravagant.

How did you get to know Mai?

I’ve known her for a while now.  We’re always talking, but just that it seems we never post pictures.  We never took pictures together.

Is that why people are speculating how you become close to her?

Honestly, I am not that close to the point of being her best friend.  It’s just that we’re in the entertainment industry together.  This industry is quite small and we see each other often, that’s all.

Are you being scrutinize moving to Mai’s gang?

No, being like this without a gang is better (smile).  It’s more relax.  Whatever makes me happy is where I will be.  I can talk to anyone and live with everyone.

Did Mai invite you to switch channel?

You mean for me to go to another channel?  No.  My contract with Ch3 is still a long time from now.  I’m still with Ch3.

What about the friends from 4 Hua Jai Haeng Khong Kao?

I met with Margie the latest for a photoshoot together.

There is rumor floating that Yaya is insinuating the war with you and Kimberley.

This is certainly untrue because with her, we don’t really talk.  It’s not true about her insinuating, because this group don’t really see each other anyway.  There is no reason to instigate since we’re in the same channel.

In the news, it said Yaya can’t keep a secret.

I don’t think so.  Because, personally, I haven’t talk to Yaya for a while now.  I don’t have any secret to keep or tell her.

Is your relationship still the same?

We’re still good friend. The good feeling I have for her is still the same.

Margie is also linked to this too.

It is certainly untrue about Margie.  Margie is a person has a nice personality and is always cute to me.  I think these are just gossip that comes and goes.

Right now, you’re being attack for having many friends. 

Yes, I am always being focus when it relates to friends.

Are you annoy?

I’m not.  I am content in my own way.  I’m not serious.

So, in conclusion this gang isn’t as close as it use to be?

Well, we don’t get to see each other often our closeness is going to decrease.  I am older, my social circle is bigger as I get to meet more people.

But people has been scrutinizing that, that group go to places together but don’t invite you?

I haven’t seen them going anywhere.

Do you want to meet with them to kill all the news?

Its difficult right now as everyone is filming two lakorn.

But your relationship with them remains the same?

The same.  We’re still friends.

Thairath Celebrity Poll 2014

Happy New Year!  The Thai media celebrates their first day with a special gift which is “Celebrity Poll”.  This consist of our team members going around asking celebrities with no bias on who is outstanding, who is good, and who is the worst.

“Pra’ek In Your Heart”

In three consecutive years this title has been “Nadech Kugimiya’s”.  His colleagues in the entertainment voted him with 20.5%.  The second place belong to “Tik Jesadaporn”, who was third place last year with a score of 18.7%.  Following Tik is “Vier Sukollawat” in third place from Channel 7 scoring 13.3%.  Fourth place is “Ken Teeradeth” who doesn’t really have any work out often but still is appreciated by his colleagues.  Other than this, there is one more person who share this place with Ken is “Boy Pakorn” scoring 12.0%.  The fifth place also tie together with 8.4% and that is “Mark Prin” and“Film Rattapoom”.

“Nang’ek In Your Heart”

The nang’ek who took Thailand entertainment’s heart is the real Supstar “Aum Patchrapa” who received a score of 24.5%.  Who follows close behind with 20.7% is “Yaya Urassaya”.  Unexpectedly she climb fast in the list because last year she didn’t even make it to the top 5.  The third person coming behind is “Anne Thongprasom”, who never falls behind with 13.5%.   How could we not have her for our fourth place?  “Chompoo Araya” received a 10.7%.  This year has been a successful year for her even in her love life.  She will become a bride very soon.  As for fifth place, it’s better to be there than not to be at all with “Margie Rasri” who gets a 7.9% vote.

“Singer In Your Heart”

He has been in a lot of entertainers’ heart for many generation, “Bird Thongchai” received a 15.7%.  This year’s second place goes to “Stamp Apiwachorn”.  He not only topping charts with his music but he’s getting points for being a coach in “The Voice” with a 10.3%.  “Parn Thanaporn” falls down from one spot from last year to third place with a vote of 8.8%.  The fourth place falls to the duo singer “New and Jew”, who always release hit songs for us.  Fifth place has to have the group “Bodyslam” who falls off of their second place.  The other singer who shares with them is Yinglee Sichumphon with 7.0%.

“Beautiful, Sweet and Charming”

After stealing the crown from “Aff Taksorn” last year, this year “Aum Patchrapa” still is crowning the first place but she didn’t come alone.  The first place is now share with “Mai Davika” with a 15.0%.  The second place is weird too because “Yaya Urassaya” and “Chompoo Araya” ties it with 12.4%.  Third place is a nang’ek who is beautiful like off the screen “Srita Jenson” with 7.3%.  The fourth place goes to “Aff Taksorn” with 6.6%.  The fifth place is “Kim Kimberley” with 5.7%.

“Exquisitely Handsome”

It is still another year that “Nadech Kugimiya” dominates two categories other than “Pra’ek In Your Heart”.  He is voted the most handsome with 35.6%.  Come in second place is “Tik Jesadaporn” whose handsomeness has not fade with 14.5%.  The third place is “Mario Maurer” with 13.4%.  The fourth place is “Dome Pakorn” with 8.0%.  The fifth place with 5.0% though has three people sharing it,“Ananda Everingham”, “James Jirayu”, and “Vier Sukollawat”, and here we thought channel 7 pra’ek is drop off the caravan.

“Sexiest of the Year”

She dominates in all three categories with no apology.  “Aum Patchrapa” owns sexiest of the year again with votes of 36.0%.  The second place is “Poo Pralya” who looks at Aum as an idol with 16.8%.  The third place still belongs to “Chompoo Araya” with 9.5%.  The fourth place is “Yaya Ying” with 7.7% vote sharing with “Baitoey R-Siam”.  Lastly, this place belong to “Gybzy Wanida” with 5.6%.

“Rising New Star”

With the “Hormones” series fever “Kao Supasara” in the role “Sprite” lead as number one rising new star this year with 12.8% vote.  The number two spot goes to “March Cuthawuthi” with 10.9%.  The third place is “Patricia Good” and “Mew Nittha”, two nang’eks from channel 3 with 8.8%.  The fourth place is “DJ Push Putachai” who is an Exact pra’ek who constantly is being push in lakorn with 7.3%.  The fifth place is “Nong Wanmai” with 5.6%.

“Damn of the Year”

No one likes to appear in this category but just think of this as a reflection of your mistake and improve from there to be beloved by your colleagues.  Let’s start with the new hot case with “Kratai Maxim”who is being damn for dressing almost naked for everyone to look at!  Before that there was “Jamie Booher” who dress embarrassingly. “Wawwa Nichari”, this person got exposed by producer “Tu Piyawadee” about her lack of manners!  As for pra’ek “Bomb Tanin”, even though he’s heavily criticized for being “pra’ek robot”, what they damn him for his is stiff hands.  “Ammie”, arrogant singer who was caught by Aida’s wife as homewrecker.  “Nathan Oman” shocked everyone with his grand opening after getting his 4 dimensional eyebrows.  No one cares about him having a rich boyfriend.  What he is damn for is when will he pay all his debts to “Aunt Mod”?!

Aum Patchrapa declares no longer accepting sexy awards

“Aum Patchrapa” delcared “Siam Bunterng” sexy awards will be her last award. She doesn’t even want her name nominated; denies preparing to wed “Amp” and refutes looking for an auspicious day with the Buddha. Aum says she’s a student at this temple and just go do merit normally. She is happy Amp held an extravagant birthday party for her at the temple.

Earning sexy awards every stage and every year, all of a sudden at “Siam Bunterng Awards” at Ibiza, sexy supstar nang’ek “Aum Patchrapa” announced on stage, she will no longer accept any sexy awards. This surprised everyone at the party. There has been gossip that she is preparing to wed with her millionaire boyfriend “Amp Pithan” because both went to look for an auspicious day with“Teacher Uthon Sirisaron” at Tam Mai temple. Aum excuses were that she is an adult now and wants to open opportunity for the younger generation and denies looking for auspicious day.

“I won Sexy and Best Actress awards. I would like to thank Siam Bunterng because they always do this every year. This year is a little special due to best actress award too. I declared this year will be my last year to accept sexy awards because I am an adult now and I don’t want it anymore. Honestly, this is my first time for this award and so I want it to end with Siam Bungtern.”

“I will not join award parties anymore. I will not submit my name to join and other events can take my name off too (laugh). I will not accept anymore. As for sexy projects, I will be doing magazine shoot continuously. Usually, I don’t do photoshoot often, only do it when I’m available. However, I will no longer accept sexy awards and give opportunity for the younger generation. They’re all so pretty. There is no space in my trophy cabinet (smile).”

Denying to do sexy any longer, she is preparing to wed  “Amp”. Inside source  gossips that she  looked for an auspicious day with “Teacher Uthon Sirisaron” at the temple she is a student at.

“No, I didn’t go ask for an auspicious day, I just go worship the buddha. I just do merit there often and I am a student there. I’m not surprised with this news because there is always news. I am indifferent. I will be staying here for a long time. My mom doesn’t speak about anyone because she let me make the decision. Amp approaching the elders is a good thing because he has mannerism and is proper. Let’s just go gradually first.”

As for Amp holding a birthday party with a male teddy on his knee asking for the girl’s hand in marriage, many people view that as Amp asking for Aum’s hand in marriage. Aum denies this as well.

“There is no such thing. I didn’t wear a wedding dress. That picture is from the movie “30 Kumlang Jaew” and it was not a wedding picture. It wasn’t a wedding cake either. It sends no message. I just like the style of the cake.”

“My past birthday was good and it took place at the temple. Amp did a surprised for me. I didn’t even know at all because I always want to go to temple festivals but always lose the opportunity due to filming lakorn. I always complained every single time that I want to play balloon shooting since I really like this activity. Amp took me out for lunch first and we went to the temple. I was confused and my friends only knew in the afternoon. No one prepares anything. I was so excited because it was so fun with all my lovely friends joining. I was so surprise since all my friends were there from when I was young to adult, about 40 people.”

“This as a present makes me happy enough. I am touch with this party. He is not shy or anything.  Oh no, I am touch with my birthday every year. As for couple pictures on instagram, I do want to put it up like my friends but not now. I will definitely post in the future.”

Pachrapa Chaichua

Patchrapa Chaichua (Thai: พัชราภา ไชยเชื้อ; rtgs: Phatcharapha Chaichuea; born 5 December 1978), or nickname Aum (Thai: อั้ม;rtgs: Am), is a Thai actress. She entered the entertainment industry in 1997 after she won a beauty and talent contest called HACKS.

The TV series that put Aum Patchrapa in the spotlight was So Sanae Ha in 2003. She played the lead role of Pralee. Aum won the 2003 TOP Award for Best Leading Actress.

She won her second TOP Award in 2005 for Pleung Payu which also starred Tana Suttikamol. Since then she has been the highest paid actress in Thailand. Aum Patchrapa once again was nominated for the Top Awards in 2006, as Best Leading Actress for thelakorns Pin mook and Song Sanae, but the award went to Ann Thongprasom for the lakorn Oum ruk. Besides her talent in acting, Aum Patchrapa was voted FHM (Thai edition's) sexiest woman for three consecutive years (2004 to 2006) but in 2007 she was beaten by May Pichanart. She also has business interests; Aum and a few other friends have a restaurant called D-Wa and an accessorie shop called Buon Fi-ne'. She launched her own perfume in August 2009: SEXY ME by Patchrapa. SEXY ME By Patchrapa is the first Thai celebrity perfume made in France.
